AFL Masters Victorian Metropolitan Football League

Women’s Over 35’s 2023 Pride Round

Williamstown Superules and Werribee Football Club look forward to hosting the AFL Masters Vic Metro Women’s Pride Cup this weekend.  The inaugural Women’s Over 35’s Pride Match was played between Werribee and Williamstown in 2019, leading the competition to send a strong message of hope, inclusion and acceptance to LGBTI+ athletes, officials and supporters.

The 2023 Pride Round is a fantastic opportunity for the entire Women’s AFL Masters Vic Metro competition to come together to help empower LGBTQI players, supporters, volunteers, and allies through the power of sport.

We want everyone to come together to play, celebrate, and show solidarity for all; and all supporters to come together to cheer for our teams.

Alongside Pride Cup, we are changing sporting culture to make LGBTI+ people feel safe, welcome and accepted.

“Sport challenges and enables players to work together, support and nurture each other.. sport is a conduit, sport can be many things to many players, even a lifeline, build esteem, gain friends, be a way of life…In 2023 Pride Round is an opportunity for education and integration with the men’s team. A collaboration of fun, understanding and respect. Playing with Women’s Masters Super Rules with Williamstown has made me proud to belong to a tribe of amazing, caring, loving, fun, inclusive, passionate, supportive super talented legends, on and off the footy oval. My other family” (Williamstown Over 35’s player).
