General Manager – AFL Masters Victorian Metropolitan Superules (AFLVM)

About the Role:

AFL Masters Victorian Metropolitan Superules League (AFLVM) is seeking a dedicated and strategic General Manager to lead the growth, strategy, and management of the League. This key leadership role is responsible for executing the League’s Strategic Plan, overseeing the management of competitions, and maintaining relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategic Planning: Implement AFLVM’s Strategic Plan, motivate staff, and engage key stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with Club Presidents, Delegates, AFL National, sponsors, and other critical partners.
  • Event Management: Oversee AFLVM competitions, including the Masters National Carnival, finals, and other special events.
  • Administration & Governance: Manage League policies, financials, and reports in line with governance and industry standards.
  • Marketing & Growth: Develop and execute marketing and sponsorship plans to grow the League’s competitions and visibility.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Essential:
    • Proven experience in leadership, stakeholder management, and strategy execution in a sporting context.
    • Strong skills in financial management, governance, and project management.
    • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
    • Ability to manage grading, fixturing, and scheduling of competitions.
  • Desirable:
    • Knowledge of the history and operations of the AFL Masters League.
    • Experience in securing sponsorships and developing commercial partnerships.

Experience:

  • A background in stakeholder engagement, sporting industry leadership (ideally in AFL), and commercial growth.
