Footy Rush

AFLVM partners with AFL Victoria to deliver non-contact “Footy Rush” pilot competition in 2026

What is Footy Rush

AFLVM has partnered with AFL Victoria to deliver a pilot program Footy Rush, which is the new Women’s over 35s ‘non-contact’ competition this season.

Whether you’re new to football, returning after time away, or simply looking for a more flexible way to stay involved, this format is designed to make participation easier and more enjoyable.

AFL Masters Vic Metro and AFL Victoria will work closely with clubs and players to gather feedback throughout the season. Insights from the pilot will help shape the future of non-contact football offerings within the AFL ecosystem.

  • All speed. No stoppages: Quick restarts mean the game never slows down.
  • More action, less waiting:Four short quarters packed with play.
  • Competitive but inclusive:Tackle‑free with touch only rules.

What are the Rules?

Footy Rush introduces a modified, fast-paced version of the game that removes tackling and heavy contact, creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for players of all experience levels. Think quick, continuous play with 4 x 10-minute quarters and 5–7 players per side. No stoppages, no ball-ups, just keep it moving.
