AFL Masters - Vic Metro
AFLVM Women’s CompetitionsAFL Masters Vic Metro Women’s COMPETITIONS
AFL Masters Vic Metro supports women to be involved in the leadership, playing, coaching, umpiring, and volunteering. Our sport is seeing a continued positive growth in national participation.
Vic Metro, with over 350 women registered in our competition, is continuing to invest in footy for fun for over 35s, with a structured pathway for progression. Vic Metro’s player pathway includes opportunities at the following levels:
Over 35’s Women’s Non-Contact:
AFL Masters Vic Metro’s Over 35s Women’s Non-Contact program delivers a version of the game that is accessible to more women over the age of 35. This format is the perfect introduction into the traditional contact game, as it provides an opportunity for players to learn game skills in a fun and supportive environment, as well as a pathway for those not able to continue playing the traditional contact version of the game.
Relaxed and social games are organised as part of the Over 35s Women’s Contact competition home and away matches played every fortnight. The rules are easy to pick up, with smaller sides (9-a-side), smaller grounds, zero contact and modified rules including zones and nominated attackers. Everybody gets a touch, with more opportunities to take marks and kick goals!
Over 35s Women’s (Contact) Competition:
This competition is Australian Rules in a traditional sense, with each team fielding 16 players, and modified rules are applicable to older athletes. The competition features a diverse range of ages where ALL over 35s are welcome, and continues to thrive year after year.
Games are played fortnightly throughout the season and scheduled with two to three matches at the same venue creating a fun and inclusive carnival-like atmosphere each round.
Vic Metro Representative side:
At the National Carnival each year, Vic Metro Masters Players have the opportunity to represent our league whilst donning the famous Big V and embodying the Vic Metro spirit. Off the field, connect with fellow footy lovers from across the nation who share the same love for Masters footy.
