AFL Masters - Vic Metro

HISTORY OF WOMEN IN AFLVM

History in the making!

Thanks to the dedication of Women’s Masters coordinator Jill Chalmers, the first ever AFL Vic Metro Women’s games were played on Saturday, 12 May 2018. Since then, our Women’s 35s competition has grown from strength to strength with over 300 registered players ahead of a fifth year of competition in 2024.

Our Women’s 35s Non-Contact program – ideal for beginner players and those over 35 years struggling to keep up with the physicality – was launched in 2022.

Clubs are actively recruiting! Contact your closest club through the list of Clubs on the AFLVM website. Alternatively, you can contact us directly via our Facebook page or send us an email!

If your closest Masters club does not have a current women’s team, there are plenty of opportunities for you to join in the fun, be it as a fill-in or joining in with casual matches that will be organised throughout the season.

For clubs looking to set up a women’s team in the future, we can help establish pathways or assist you with some ideas or strategies to get things rolling.

We’d love to hear more from you, and our women’s football community can support you and your club with practical help and warm encouragement.
